Senior Fellow, Senior Associated Member, Full Professor
Carlos studies the forces that explain economic development, the role of institutions and the impact of technological change. His work also addresses globalization, productive transformation and the provision of global public goods. He is the author and editor of ten books and numerous papers, and regularly presents his ideas at international conferences.
His connection with academia began early. While studying Business Administration, he was elected by the student body to serve on the Academic Council of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires. He later held teaching positions at the University of Buenos Aires, the University of Belgrano and the Universidad del Salvador, where he became Full Professor of Economic Policy.
He has been a Senior Associated Member of St Antony’s College, University of Oxford; a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China; a Visiting Professor at Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola; a member of the Advisory Board of the Wilson Center’s Latin American Program; and is a Counselor Member of the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI) and a member of the Academic Council of its magazine “Asuntos Globales”.
He also participated as an invited expert in the Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response and as a member of UNDP’s Commission on Biodiversity, Ecosystems, Finance and Development.
