Carlos Magari\u00f1os is an avant-garde, whose international career has been defined by anticipating economic and technological transformations, bringing together governments, businesses and social actors to turn ideas and strategies into policies, institutions and concrete projects.<\/p>\n
From a very young age, he held leadership responsibilities related to economic development, productive transformation, innovation, and the creation and reform of institutions.<\/p>\n
At the age of 31, he was appointed Secretary of Industry of the Argentine Republic. Four years later, at just 35, he won an international election \u2014receiving 36 of the 53 votes cast\u2014 to become Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)<\/a>, a position he held for two terms.<\/p>\n His career has spanned politics, diplomacy, academia and business, and has been recognized with 39 distinctions awarded by governments and institutions across the Americas, Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n Over more than three decades, he has combined executive responsibilities with sustained intellectual activity.
